Shared Procurement Service appoints first staff member

Nov 05, 2015

Kat Humphries is the very first appointment to the new Shared Procurement Service.

As Senior Procurement Manager, she will work for the four member institutions who will be using it.

Kat’s procurement career began when she was accepted into the inaugural cohort of the OGC’s Government Procurement Graduate Scheme, after obtaining a Masters of Engineering from the University of Edinburgh and subsequently realising that a career in engineering was not for her!

She started out working at NHS Purchasing & Supply Agency (PASA) in Chester, where she rotated around a number of different roles including a Category Specialist for the fleet team, where she led on the pan-government lease of commercial vehicles framework agreement. During this time she completed her CIPS qualifications.

It wasn’t too long before the bright lights of London called, and she began working at the Treasury Solicitor’s Department as Contracts & Procurement Manager.

Her latest role was Procurement Manager at University College London, where she looked after the Office Supplies, Office Services, Professional Services, Libraries and Travel categories.

When not procuring, Kat likes to partake in all things musical. She helps run a choir in Brixton (she is always on the look-out for tenors and basses, if there are any keen singers out there!) and she plays the violin in London City Orchestra.

Kat is thrilled to join this new venture and is looking forward to shaping and delivering a top-class procurement shared service for its members.

Kat takes up her new role on 11 January 2016.
