We have recently had our carbon emissions validated by a third-party, MyCarbon. This provides greater certainty on reduction required and, where this is not possible, the amount to be offset on our journey to meet the Net Zero target by 2050 set by the UK government.

Full details of our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions can be found in our GHG (Greenhouse Gas) report. The report details a comprehensive account of our carbon footprint arising from our operations covering the period of 1 August 2022 through to 31 July 2023. 

To offset our carbon emissions, LUPC has invested in two projects. The Dutch Methane Recovery Project which mitigates the environmental impact of livestock farming by capturing methane emissions from manure and converting it into renewable energy (biogas), and CarbonCure which includes a suite of technologies to inject captured CO₂ into fresh concrete during manufacturing. We have updated the Scope 3 section of the Responsible Procurement page on the LUPC website to include the above information and also to provide further information on our Scope 3 work.
